Yash Raj Films criminal case against Cricket Board

Yash Raj Films (YRF) has filed a criminal complaint against the officials of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for allegedly playing its songs at World Cup matches without permission.

Upendra Jalgaonkar, manager of Novex Communications, YRF’s authorised agency which issues licences for use of film songs and promos at public events, has filed the criminal complaint against Haroon Lorgat (ICC Chief Executive), Dheeraj Malhotra (ICC joint secretary), Ratnakar Shetty (BCCI CAO), Hemant Waingankar and Lalchand Rajput (MCA joint secretaries) at the Marine Drive police station.

The case is under section 63 and 69 of Copyright Act for unauthorized playing of songs from films like Band Baaja Baraat, Chakde India and other films produced by YRF.
