RGV shoots Department with RED & 5D cameras

Ram Gopal Varma is one film maker who is always keen to use new technology for making films. He introduced the steady-cam in his debut film Shiva, where he put in 6-track sound design also.

RGV tested Canon EOS 5D digital SLR cameras by making a low cost comedy film Dongala Mutta. He perfected the use of 5D with the filming of the murder mystery Not A Love Story. More confident of the technology, he is now shooting Department, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati.

For filming Department, RGV is using RED One and 5D cameras. The Big B recently tweeted: “But yes ‘Department’ of RGV does not have a DOP, or special lights reflectors, trolleys etc … an experience by itself ..”
